Filamentous Green Algae Blooms observed in Frog Mortar Creek and South River.

Filamentous green algae have been reportedly abundant for localized areas on Frog Mortar Creek (Middle River) and the South River. Investigations are underway by Maryland Department of the Environment and Maryland Department of Natural Resources to collect samples and identify the species. The algae may be aesthetically unpleasing with accumulations in small embayments and can present a minor nuisance for boaters.
