State gears-up for another season of harmful algal blooms.

Brown Tide monitoring is ongoing from late April until July in Maryland's Coastal Bays.  Pfiesteria monitoring is being conducted in targeted systems from April through October.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with the National Park Service, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science will be conducting an intensive survey of benthic macroaglae in the Maryland Coastal Bays during the week of May 21, 2001. The information collected will help scientist to better understand the distribution patterns of macroalgae in the bays.
