Pfiesteria detected in tributaries of the Coastal Bays

In the Coastal Bays, Pfiesteria was found in five water samples collected on August 2nd from Ayer (2), Marshall (1) and Trappe Creeks (2) in the Newport Bay watershed. The sites were locations where lesioned menhaden and Pfiesteria were also found during the 2000 Pfiesteria monitoring program. There was no evidence of toxic Pfiesteria activity at any of the sites.
