Bay Grasses (Submerged Aquatic Vegetation)
Permits and Regulations
In most cases, a permit is required for SAV collection or removal.
Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Collection or Removal Application
The Department of Natural Resources is charged with protecting bay grasses. Currently, there are three laws that protect submerged aquatic vegetation from disruption.
- General protections are included in Article-Natural Resources § 4-213
- Protection from possible disruption by hydraulic escalator clam dredges is afforded by Article-Natural Resources § 4-1006.1
- Protection from possible disruption by shellfish aquaculture activities is afforded by Article-Natural Resources § 4-11A.01
